Virtual Assistant
Answers from policy and the law, with the source shown.
Your staff ask a question in plain words and get one answer from your agency’s own documents and the law. The answer marks each source it relies on, and one click shows the passage.
Runs in the browser on desktops and phones.
How it works
Every answer shows its sources
A short, direct answer comes first. Below it, what your documents say and what the law says each sit under their own heading.
Numbered markers sit beside the statements they support. Clicking one shows the passage behind it, with its document and section, and staff can open the document at that passage.
Your staff set the scope
Staff search your own documents alone, the law alone, or both together. Your agency decides which of these search modes each group of staff sees.
On the law side, the Virtual Assistant draws on legislation from the 10 Australian and New Zealand jurisdictions. Our coverage page lists the legislation we hold.
Deep research for harder questions
Some questions span several documents. In Deep mode, the Virtual Assistant reads inside the documents it finds, including the sections around a passage. It runs follow-up searches until the question is covered.
A deep answer takes longer. It leaves a trail above the answer, so staff can see each search it ran and each document it read.
Answers are checked, and your staff decide
After an answer appears, a second model reads it with the question and every cited source. It rates how fully and accurately the answer deals with the question, as Pass, Review advised or Fail.
A separate check confirms that each marker points to a source the Virtual Assistant was given. An answer with no citations is marked Fail.
The checks are advisory, so they never change or block the answer. The person asking decides what to rely on. Read our evaluation method.
Your administrators keep the documents current
Your administrators add, replace and remove documents themselves. Each new file goes through security checks before it can appear in answers.
Replacing or removing a live document needs a reason, then waits for approval. Staff keep seeing the current version until it is approved. We can set it so that a different administrator must approve each change.
Earlier versions are kept, and a removed document can be restored from the recycle bin.
Where it is used
A state police force piloted the Virtual Assistant with its officers and staff.

An experienced sergeant reached an evidenced answer in about a quarter of the time.
We have also run a proof of value with the legal staff of a state government legal office.
At another agency, a Virtual Assistant built on its practice guidance went through 4 rounds of expert scoring before practitioners used it. Read the case study.

Set up
We map your process and your law into the product. Your security review runs at the same time.
- 02
Pilot
Your staff use it on your own documents, alongside the current process.
- 03
Decide
You get measured results, such as time saved and issues found.
