PolicyDNA

Find where your policy no longer matches the law.

PolicyDNA reads your policies against the law in force and against each other. Your own Word documents come back with a comment on each passage that needs attention, explaining the issue and suggesting an action. A tracked edit appears only where there is one right answer, such as a renumbered section.

We run each review for you. Your officers work in Word and decide every change.

How it works

It reads your whole policy set

We agree with you which policies, procedures and guidance are in scope. PolicyDNA reads every passage against the legislation in force in your jurisdiction.

It also reads each document against the rest of the set. That finds where two documents give different instructions, or where one term means two things.

A comment on the words that need attention

PolicyDNA attaches each comment to the exact words it is about, so your officer sees the issue in place. The comment sets your passage beside the law or the other document, then suggests an action.

A finding against the law names the Act and section it was checked against. The text of that section goes into the findings report.

A tracked edit only where there is one right answer

Some fixes have one right answer, such as a section that has been renumbered. PolicyDNA makes those as tracked edits that change only the words that are wrong, with the reason in a comment. If an edit cannot be placed exactly, it becomes a comment instead.

Everything that needs a judgement stays a comment. Your officers accept or reject each edit in Word, like any other tracked change.

For a new Act, we agree with you before the run which changes become tracked edits.

Every finding is checked before you see it

PolicyDNA keeps a finding only if its quote appears word for word in your document. Each finding is then checked a second time, and dropped or revised if it does not hold.

Before a document comes back, its text is checked with every change accepted, to catch doubled or broken words a tracked edit can leave. Findings that fit no single passage are handed over separately, with the reason.

One report across the whole set

Alongside the marked-up documents, you get one findings report for the whole set. It opens in a web browser and works without an internet connection.

It starts with a summary, then shows where the problems concentrate and which documents are most affected. Each finding is rated critical, high, medium or low.
