ATO rulings coverage expanded to 69,000+
69,453 ATO rulings, determinations, and guidance documents are now indexed alongside Australian case law and legislation. The full TR, TD, GST, CR, PR, FBTR, SMSFR, and PS LA series are searchable together with legislation and judgments in a single grounded answer.
AccuFind's ATO Legal Database coverage now spans 69,453 rulings, determinations, and guidance documents, up from a curated subset of the headline rulings indexed previously. The corpus now totals 858,662 primary-source documents across Australian and New Zealand case law, legislation, and ATO guidance.
What is now searchable
Every public series in the ATO Legal Database is indexed end-to-end, including current, draft, and withdrawn versions for historical research:
- Taxation Rulings and Determinations: the full TR series from 1992 onward, the full TD series, plus the historical Income Tax Rulings (IT 1951–1992)
- GST and indirect tax: GST Rulings (GSTR), GST Determinations (GSTD), and Sales Tax Rulings (ST)
- FBT and superannuation: the full Fringe Benefits Tax Ruling (FBTR) series and Self-Managed Superannuation Fund Ruling (SMSFR) series
- Class, Product, and Law Companion Rulings: CR, PR, and LCR series for employee schemes, investment products, and major legislative changes
- Practice Statements: the full PS LA series of Commissioner's internal guidance
- Decision Impact Statements: the DIS series setting out the Commissioner's response to court and tribunal decisions, plus ATO Interpretative Decisions (ATO ID)
Why integrated coverage matters for tax practice
For tax practitioners, the practical answer to a question rarely lives in a single source. A working-from-home deduction needs the Commissioner's view in the TR series, the underlying ITAA provisions, the case law interpreting them, and any superseding LCR or PS LA. Until now, that meant three separate searches across three different products.
With the expanded ATO coverage, every query reaches across all three corpora at once. A practitioner asking about Division 7A loans, R&D incentives, or GST going concerns receives the relevant Act sections, the controlling case law, and the Commissioner's own guidance, all in a single grounded answer with paragraph-level citations to the original source.
Refresh cadence
ATO guidance is refreshed monthly from ato.gov.au, alongside the monthly case law refresh. Legislation continues to refresh weekly from official publishers.
What this means in practice
The expanded ATO index is live across every AccuFind deployment. Existing customers see the broader coverage in their next query without any configuration required. For new prospects, AccuFind now provides unified search across the full Australian primary-source landscape: case law from 67 courts and tribunals, consolidated legislation from all 11 ANZ jurisdictions, and the complete ATO Legal Database.
